Prepless Veneers
In cases where aesthetic improvement can be achieved without altering the natural structure of the teeth, non-invasive laminate applications can be preferred. With porcelain veneers that do not require any material loss, the smile profile can be enhanced, providing aesthetically pleasing results.
What Are Prepless Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are also known as prepless laminates or non-prep veneers. They can be applied to healthy teeth without making any modifications to the tooth surfaces. These veneers cover only the front surfaces of the teeth and are favored for their highly natural and aesthetic appearance. They are effective in closing gaps between teeth, correcting discoloration or shape irregularities, and completing smile designs. Custom-made for each individual, porcelain veneers are applied to the tooth surface using biocompatible materials without causing damage to the teeth.
Are Prepless Veneers Different from Traditional Veneers?
Both treatments involve applying aesthetic laminates to the front surfaces of the teeth. However, prepless veneers do not require any preparation or enamel removal before application. They are directly adhered to the tooth surface and, if desired, can be removed to restore the teeth to their original appearance. Traditional laminate veneers, on the other hand, require minor enamel reduction before application, meaning that if they are removed, a new restoration is necessary. Since prepless veneers require fewer steps and a shorter procedure time, smile design can be completed more quickly.
How Are Prepless Veneers Applied?
During a clinical examination, the teeth requiring treatment are identified. The patient’s oral health and the compatibility of surrounding tissues are assessed, followed by digital measurements using 3D scanners. Photographs and X-rays are taken to analyze personal characteristics such as age, gender, face shape, and skin tone. Based on this data, the most suitable smile design is determined digitally. The final simulation is reviewed with the dentist before measurements are transferred to the laboratory. In the next session, the veneers are first tested for fit and then bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth using biocompatible adhesives that do not harm the teeth.
What Should Be Considered After Getting Prepless Veneers?
Thanks to their ease of application and perfect adaptation, patients can return to their social lives immediately after the procedure. There is no discomfort, pain, or sensitivity. Oral hygiene routines, including brushing and flossing, remain unchanged. Prepless veneers have highly natural tissue transitions and are well-integrated with surrounding tissues, allowing for easy oral hygiene maintenance. Regular follow-up appointments and proper care of the restorations help extend their lifespan.
